Behavioral Health Resources

We are happy to announce that from partnering with the psychiatry department at Boston Children’s Hospital, we now have self management guides for different mental health conditions on our website. Please click here to go to the Behavioral Health Page for more details and links to the guides. As always, please call us to discuss if you have concerns about your or your child’s behaviors.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update

As of February 18th, all patients 16 and older with 2 specified medical conditions are eligible to receive the COVID19 vaccine through the Massachusetts vaccination sites. We unfortunately are not distributing the COVID19 vaccine in our office currently. You do not need a letter from us to schedule your vaccine. Please check the COVID-19 Vaccine page on our website for details on how to schedule your vaccine. And call us with any questions.

Afternoon Well Child Appointments

Due to the decrease in the rate of COVID-19 infections in our community, we are now opening spots in our afternoons for well child appointments again. If you had an appointment cancelled in the past 3 months or have not been able to schedule one due to time constraints, you can call us now to schedule afternoon appointments starting February 16th. We are still keeping our COVID-19 safety precautions in place to protect our patients and our staff. We are still offering virtual visits as well if you prefer.

Heavy Metals in Baby Foods

There is a lot of conversation in the media this week about heavy metals in baby food. The American Academy of Pediatrics released a useful article about how to safely choose baby food a few years ago. Please click here to access it. We will update our website if they release any new information about this topic. And please call us with any other questions.

COVID19 Testing Update

We are now offering testing for asymptomatic patients who have been exposed to COVID19.

If your child has been exposed, please call us to schedule a virtual visit.

We can offer COVID19 testing in our parking lot in the afternoon after your virtual visit appointment.

If you are concerned that your child may have COVID19, we can set up a virtual visit or an appointment in the office to do COVID19 testing.

At this time, we are not able to perform tests on patients who do not have symptoms and have not had an exposure.

If you are going to have a COVID19 test performed elsewhere, please call your insurance first to check if it would be covered or not.

Please refer to our COVID19 Info page for more detailed information about the virus.  And feel free to call with any questions!  Stay safe and healthy out there!

COVID-19 Vaccines

As you have probably heard, COVID-19 vaccines are being distributed to healthcare workers and we wanted to let our patients know that we have been vaccinating our own staff here at Roslindale Pediatrics over the past few weeks.

We have been putting measures in place here in the office to decrease the spread of COVID-19 and we appreciate everyone’s patience during these difficult times. We are hopeful that vaccinating our staff will give an even bigger impact in our fight against this virus. We want to make sure we can continue to treat our patients in the safest way possible in these unsure times.

The vaccine is not yet available to the general public or people under age 16, but we know some of our patients and patients’ parents fall into the group that is currently eligible. Below is a link to the CDC with information about the safety and efficacy of the vaccine:

Feel free to call us with any questions, and refer to our COVID-19 page for updates on guidelines.

Lab Results Update

Labs are now being released immediately to MyChart.  Some of these may show some minor abnormalities which are clinically insignificant.  Please be confident that your healthcare provider will review each lab value and will contact you if there are any concerns.  Please allow your healthcare provider the time to evaluate each value and then communicate with you which may take 1-2 days.

Update on Office Changes

Now that we are starting to see more patients in the office, we want to let you know about the changes we have made to help prevent the spread of COVID19.  If you come in for an appointment here is what you can expect:

  • All patients over age 2 and staff will wear masks at all times in the office except for parts of the exam or diagnostic testing.

  • When you come for your in office visit, call our office once you are in the parking lot to register by phone

  • To minimize the amount of patients in the waiting room, you may be asked to wait in your car until we call you when the waiting room is empty.

  • We are using designated separate rooms for “well visits” and for “sick visits”

  • Every room will have a thorough cleaning after every patient

  • Follow up and future appointments will be scheduled in the exam room instead of waiting at the check out desk

  • We ask that only 1 adult accompanies the patient and no siblings brought along if possible, to minimize amount of people in the office.

  • Our staff is being screened each day for symptoms and for a fever.  If symptomatic, they are not allowed in the office until they are well.

  • We are still offering Virtual Visits if you prefer this.  If you are not already signed up for mychart, give us a call to have your account activated.

As always, if you have any questions feel free to call us.  We want to make sure you feel comfortable about how your child receives their medical care.
